'Every Student Matters, Every Voice Counts' 

Student Voice lies at the very heart of everything we do and is well-established. It makes a significant impact on how the school develops and grows, empowering young people to have their say and make a real and valued difference to the wider life of the school and our local community. This culture permeates school life and contributes significantly to our Rights Respecting School ethos and the UNICEF Gold Accreditation we are extremely proud to have achieved.

There are various aspects to this work which includes:

• Students as Evaluators – every half term group of students meet and work in departments to help review the curriculum, assessments and our school improvement priorities. They help to provide valuable feedback to staff to support the planning of high quality teaching and learning.

• Student voice – every half term students from each tutor group meet with a member of the Senior Leadership Team to discuss and give feedback on school improvement and discuss key events for their year group. This feedback is used to continually improve our school and make improvements as and when necessary.

• #mywildern - students are able to make school improvement suggestions at any point throughout the year by accessing our #mywildern form on the Student page of the website. Suggestions are discussed by the Senior Leadership Team and students receive feedback following their suggestions.

Student Leadership at Wildern is all about making potential reality - giving students meaningful opportunities to make a positive impact and to grow personally; things they are highly capable of doing well, if given the chance.

There are various aspects of Student Leadership which include:

• Prefect Team - consisting of Head Students, Senior Prefects and Prefects - these fantastic students represent the student body, influence school leaders, support at key events, welcome visitors to the school, help create an excellent school environment, and are exceptional role models for all students at Wildern.

• Changemakers - Collaborative groups of staff and students aiming to impact the life and future of Wildern in important areas of focus for the school - currently: eco and sustainability, educational technology, charity, human rights, wellbeing and careers.

• Transition Leaders - students who are trained across the key stages to support younger students in the school transitioning to secondary school and into GCSE options and subjects. A group of students also run the Big Room once a week to provide a space for students to meet new people.

• House Captains - Championing all House events and student participation in all House Championship events. Regular team meetings.
