Every House Inspires, Every Effort Counts.
We believe that true success is built on the daily dedication of every student and staff member, where high attendance, positive behaviour, and active participation in the wider curriculum form the foundation of our collective pride. Through healthy competition and collaborative leadership, our five houses serve as launchpads for individual achievement and mutual support. By celebrating both small wins and major milestones, we inspire every individual to contribute their best to a stronger, unified Wildern.

The Wildern House Championship was relaunched in 2012 after careful collaboration with both students and staff. Every member of the school community, excluding the Headteacher and the House Championship Coordinator, is associated with one of the five houses.

To honor Hedge End’s rich strawberry-growing heritage, students and staff voted to name the houses after specific strawberry varieties and links to the history of Wildern lane and strawberries:

  • Alba (Orange)

  • Driscoll (Yellow)

  • Jubilee (Purple)

  • Paxton (Blue)

  • Sovereign (Red)

The makeup of each house is spread evenly across all year groups. Students will continue to represent their assigned house for their full five years at Wildern, supported by staff members who belong to the same house.

Heads of House are all drawn from the school’s Senior Leadership Team. They are ably assisted by the House Captains, who form a focal point for organising and delivering events across the school, as well as publishing results on the House blog pages and digital screens around the school site.

The Wildern house championship underpins the school motto of “Every Student Matters, Every Moment Counts” in which all aspects of school life positively contribute to an overall successful winner. Erefs and participation in a wide variety of events taking place across the whole curriculum are all collated and added to house totals. Students of all ages have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of subject events and whole school competitions that have a positive impact on individual achievement, Houses, subject areas and the whole school.
