Philosophy

To inspire enterprising minds at Wildern by blending the spirit of innovation with an understanding of the real-world economy. We empower students to be determined entrepreneurs who look at national challenges with curiosity, transforming classroom theory into real-world business insight.

 

Assessment & Progress

  • Students come into contact with exam questions from the very beginning of the course. This enables them to start building analytical skills that enable them to problem solve and see the “bigger picture”.

  • End of unit assessments track progress to highlight areas that need developing and areas of strength.

  • At the end of Year 9 and 10 students will sit larger exams, covering everything they have learned up to that point. 

 

About the course

Edexcel GCSE Business Studies enables you to understand more about the business world. It enables you to develop as a commercially minded and enterprising individual who thinks critically, drawing on business information and evidence to develop arguments and make justified decisions. GCSE Business will motivate and challenge you, and prepare you to make informed decisions about further study and career pathways.

Edexcel GCSE Business consists of two externally-examined papers that are 50% of the qualification each.

Theme 1: Investigating small business (1hr 45 mins)

  • Putting a business idea into practice

  • Making the business effective

  • Understanding external influences on business

Theme 2: Building a business (1hr 45 mins)

  • Growing the business

  • Making marketing decisions

  • Making operational decisions

  • Making financial decisions

  • Making human resource decisions
