Nut Allergy Information
Text
At Wildern School, the safety and well-being of our community is our top priority. A number of our students and staff suffer from severe, life-threatening nut allergies.
To protect vulnerable members of our school community, we strictly ask that students, parents, and staff do not bring nuts or nut-based products into school or on school trips. Even minor exposure can trigger an anaphylactic reaction requiring emergency medical treatment. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our environment safe.
It is important to understand why we treat food allergies with such high urgency:
-
Food Allergy: A potentially life-threatening immune system response triggered by eating or coming into contact with certain foods.
-
Food Intolerance: An adverse reaction to food that does not involve the immune system and is not life-threatening.
What Counts as a "Nut Product"?
Please check packaging carefully before sending food into school. The ban applies to the following items:
|
Tree nuts and peanuts |
Other restricted items |

Our School Catering Commitment
We work hard to ensure our school-provided meals are as safe as possible:
-
On-Site Preparation: We do not use nuts in any food prepared on our school premises.
-
Our Suppliers: We source nut-free products from our food suppliers.
-
Please Note: While we take every precaution, we cannot 100% guarantee a completely trace-free environment, as some products are manufactured in external factories where nuts are handled.
Important Steps for Parents and Carers
If your child has a known or suspected allergy to nuts, you must take the following steps:
-
Notify the School: Alert us immediately about the allergy.
-
Provide Medication: Supply the school with all required medical information and up-to-date medication (such as AAI/EpiPens).
-
Individual Care Plans: This information will be added to your child’s school medical profile. Where necessary, a meeting will be organized with our First Aid team to establish a tailored care plan.
